Norway is the place to be!

Well, at least it is right now while the sun is shining. :)

Just got back from four days in Ă…lesund... a small city built on the western coast of Norway. No, not a vacation, rather I was presenting Ardor3D and doing some consulting work for Rolls Royce. I enjoyed giving another Ardor3D seminar. I met some very awesome people and started thinking that maybe the relaxed Norwegian vibe is for me.

So yes, work was during the day, but in the evenings (sun was up past 9pm while I was there) I had a chance to get out and see a little bit of the surroundings. The first full day there, I took a little trip over to some cliffs and went rock climbing with the talented but crazy Tommy Skeide. Tommy is an avid surfer, climber and a good engineer to boot. I on the other hand am merely a programmer. So while Tommy bounded up the side of the cliff, I was a little more... careful. :)

Tommy is putting together his second book on climbing in Norway and got some photos from all kinds of crazy positions, including hanging over ledges. I'm hoping to get one or two showing me clinging to the side of the mountain in terror, but for now, here's a few of the less than dare-devil pictures that I took.

On Friday, many of the team I was working with hired a boat and we went out to do some fishing. We had a good catch... but I guess I'm just not used to the customs there as this picture shows how you are supposed to just dive in and eat the fish before they fully bleed out.

Ok, maybe he was just mugging for the camera... I did not want to ask though because (you may be able to see in the picture) he was holding a wicked sharp knife. :)

All in all a memorable experience, and on the work side, a positive one for Ardor3D.
