It's nothing too bad though, just some fluid in the lungs. Yay...
Stayed home today and did a little jME work smoothing out some seams in TerrainPage. That's all checked into cvs. Also spent over an hour on the phone with Mark (sorry for the croaking!) talking about some interesting developments regarding an upcoming event. More to come soon.
As you may have read on Mark's blog, I've been hard at work on refactoring jME's Spatial class and other .9 improvements. I've done two different approaches already but neither produced something everyone would be happy with, so after some thought and discussion a new approach has been ironed out and I think this one's a keeper. It'll take a while to get it implemented, but know that the work continues.
In other events, I beat Resident Evil 4 last night... Wow, what a game! So my stats were 57 saves, 20 continues and about 23 hours of play time. I didn't use any guides or cheats, but now i'm interested in hearing of any easter eggs.
I have not forgotten about my earlier promise to show off some Swing components. I'll do so once I can make sure no client information is shown off while still giving you an idea of what the interface is doing.
happy valentine's day!
Here's a fun Irish proverb:
It's as foolish to let a fool kiss you as it is to let a kiss fool you.
Happy Valentine's day to you all, especially my dear wife. :)

Long enough
The last two weeks or so have been pretty crazy, but I've put this off long enough now. :)
So what's going on? Well, basically I've wrapped up work on my last major project and I'm out on the prowl for the next one. Usually that's a no brainer but since we're now in Arizona I don't have the contacts in place that I'm used to. So recently I've been scouting out a few consulting firms here in the valley. So far, I'm underwhelmed. Most of my visits have fallen into one of the following categories:
A: "Hey, your resume looks great. We've got this job at XYZ company that happens to have the word Java in it and we already sent your resume there... hope you don't mind."
B: "Hey, can you talk to this [insert country with heavy accent] guy so we can get an idea of your tech skills? By the way, he doesn't really want to hear what you've done, he just wants to hear the right buzz words."
C: "Wow, you could be doing my job... Nice to see ya."
Ah well, C'est la Vie, right? I do have some rumblings with a bank I've worked with before, and who knows what else.
On other fronts, jME is plugging along. Yesterday I was able to integrate a submission from Gareth Jenkins-Jones giving us S3TC support. I'm also knee deep in .9 work. Before I got deep into that, I converted Dirt to jME .8... Unfortunately, it seems slightly slower. Not sure what we've done in jME to cause that, but it will be interesting to see how the .9 improvements affect things.
More to come!
